Landline-free households

Report on Yahoo News. Now growing in the US: the number of households using mobiles as their main phone (sometimes because landline is dedicated to internet connection), with an increasing number of households landline free. Not all the demographics are obvious: lower income households, people renting with unrelated house-mates etc. tend to be mobile-only. But households with both mobile and landline which, nevertheless, get calls on their mobiles tend to be higher income households. The implications for pollsters, emergency services and phone companies are mentioned.

A big change for a culture that was so slow to take up the mobile habit.
