Research by Richard Wiseman found that planting a photo of a baby insided a 'lost' wallet increased the likelihood of its return, compared to other family shots, pictures of a puppy or cards recording recent charitable donations (note in the study the wallets had no cash in them). Wiseman speculates that the baby photos prompted a caring response that was 'not surprising from an evolutionary perspective.' Still haven't worked out the wider context for the study...
