As the OLPC project becomes increasingly constrained by a combination of political and financial influences, Cory Doctorow argues in The Guardian that access to computers is essential for the developing world. Whilst mobile phones bring access to communication networks, they are, nevertheless, an interim step and can't substitute for the access to information and tools that can be built on that networked computers bring.
