What people say and what they do

Lovely snippet by Jeff Jarvis on NT Times report that people look up 'orgy' more than 'apple pie' on the internet. The story comes about because Google search data may be used in a Florida law suit to provide a yardstick of what constitutes obscene in contemporary America.

Jarvis comments on his time in newspapers where front covers featuring Brooke Shields in a bikini were tested against covers featuring Diane Sawyer in a suit. People said they would buy the Sawyer version, but guess which one was bought more often when the two were placed on a newstand. As Jarvis comments: behaviour trumps opinion.
