Just too inhibited?

According to Stephen Brook in yesterday's Guardian 13% of British newspaper readers reported having read an individual's blog in the past week, compared to 40% in the US, 25% in France and 12% in Denmark. As for writing their own blog 3% in the UK and Denmark had, compared to 7% in the US and 8% in France. Is this a northern European thing? Unwillingness to share and share in other people's inner lives? We also read less news on-line (89%) compared to the Americans (95%), with 81% in France and 78% in Denmark.
